Materials

Our materials are provided to thyssenkrupp’s high quality standard and are the first choice for a wide range of applications. In our materials4me online shop you can conveniently choose between aluminium, carbon steel and stainless steel. Each material has specific properties.

Steel

Steel is an all-rounder metal. It is recommended particularly where durability is important. The strong material can be easily processed in a variety of ways to create virtually any shape.
However, standard steels display only limited corrosion resistance. Rust quickly becomes an issue – but good solutions are available, for example galvanizing.

Aluminium

Aluminium is significantly lighter than steel with a weight advantage of 3:1. Aluminium is more resistant to environmental influences than standard steel and more readily formable.
Aluminium structures are frequently bolted or riveted. Welding is a good way to connect aluminium parts but good ventilation must be ensured due to the fumes involved.

Stainless steel (V2A)

There are many structures where weight does not play a role, meaning that it is not necessary to use aluminium. If corrosion resistance is important, stainless steel is often the most suitable material. It is easy to process and the surface does not require treatment.
